Responsibilities

Supervise, surveil, and maintain a specialized caseload of youthful offenders, drug offender probation, community control, pre‑trial intervention, and offender releases.

Provide intake, court liaison, trainer, and electronic monitoring device installation duties as required.

Direct and supervise a correctional probation officer at a probation and restitution center; monitor a residential treatment facility and act as on‑site representative for program participants.

Encourage offender compliance through guidance, goal setting, and monitoring of behavior in the community.

Conduct field and office supervision visits via personal contact, collateral/community contacts, surveillance contacts, telephone contacts, and electronic methods.

Demonstrate sensitivity to public and victim needs, concerns, and complaints and take prompt action as required.

Assess and identify offender needs and treatment options; establish structured treatment programs, client management classifications, pre‑trial contracts, and other improvement programs.

Develop offender payment plans and enforce compliance; maintain case records in electronic and hard copy formats.

Conduct pre‑sentence, pre‑trial, post‑sentence, interstate compact, sentencing guidelines, and other required investigations.

Make recommendations regarding continued supervision, revocation, diversion, and incarceration to sentencing or releasing authorities.

Attend hearings, appear as a witness, and report non‑compliance with supervision orders to authorities.

Maintain liaison with judiciary, prosecutors, public defenders, law enforcement, treatment providers, non‑profit agencies, and other criminal justice representatives.

Conduct individual and group counseling for offenders as needed and interview offenders to obtain information related to supervision or investigation.

Monitor and test offenders for controlled substances and alcohol as directed by authorities.

Develop and maintain contacts with resources suitable for public service assignments as directed by authorities.

Conduct searches, make arrests of offenders under supervision, and install and maintain electronic/radio equipment for monitoring.

Handle administrative duties and assist supervisors in their absence; serve on teams, committees, and task forces to study issues and develop new programs.

Attend and deliver training related to job responsibilities; act as the day‑to‑day training officer for a correctional probation officer.

Qualifications

Ability to work independently and/or under stressful conditions.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Full Performance Level KSA’s

Knowledge of techniques for advising, interviewing, and counseling.

Ability to review and analyze data.

Ability to assist offenders in solving problems.

Ability to conduct investigations.

Ability to apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Licensure, Certification, and Registration Requirements

Certified in accordance with Florida Statutes 943.13.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Valid driver’s license required as a condition of employment.
