Health paras collaborate with the Licensed School Nurse in delivering school health care.
Responsibilities
Monitor health status of students and perform first aid, emergency care and other illness interventions per district protocols.
Administer medication and/or specialized health care treatments to students as directed by physicians and authorized by parents or guardians.
Follow protocols, procedures and written care plans to administer medications, care procedures, and triage care needs.
Conduct vision and hearing screenings.
Facilitate referrals to health care providers.
Monitor student health and obtain immunization records to prevent and control communicable disease.
Excuse or re‑admit students for health reasons in accordance with district protocols and state health department exclusion guidelines.
Order and maintain adequate first aid and health care supplies.
Provide staff care and be a resource for work‑related injuries.
Coordinate with LSN to identify students that need assessment for health education/counseling.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Registered Nurse (RN).
Proof of current Adult, Child and Infant CPR/AED certifications or enrollment in an upcoming CPR/AED course upon hire.
Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability/desire to work with special needs students and cooperatively with students and staff.
Ability/desire to work with technology.
Good record‑keeping and computer skills.
Ability to remain calm in stressful emergency situations.
Ability to take direction.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
Ability to perform position duties which may include walking, sitting, documentation, working with supplies, and delivering care as needed.
Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing assigned days on site.
Preferred Qualifications
Current MN Licensed Practical Nurse License (LPN) or Registered Nurse License (RN) preferred.
Rate of Pay $23.70 to $28.90 depending on experience and education.
Benefits Insurance benefits available for assigned positions of 6 hours or more per day.
Start Date ASAP.
