Job Summary Responsible for the design, support, and development of our sensor products for gas & steam turbines, with significant focus on our thermocouple, cable, and RTD products. The Design Engineer will also provide engineering, manufacturing, and project management support, including design engineering, AutoCAD, SolidWorks 3D modeling, drawing creation, reverse engineering, component selection, environmental analysis, qualification testing, agency certifications, and project management. FEA models shall be created with various environmental factors being modified to analyze the stress and optimize designs.

Key Responsibilities

Creates product design requirements and specifications in a team setting.

Designs new products to meet design specifications.

Creates engineering documents including drawings, bills of material and engineering change notices.

Assists in all engineering functions leading to product release such as prototype testing, manufacturing issues, final test specs, etc.

Uses lab tools, environmental chambers, vibration systems and general equipment to analyze and debug systems.

Creates prototype hardware (designs and builds hardware to test concepts and provides a temporary target).

Supports mechanical and electrical assemblies and performs in-depth analysis during design review to minimize the effect of the various environmental stresses applied on the units including temperature, vibration, drag, steam, and chemical exposure.

Coordinates with outside test labs for required testing to meet design criteria.

Coordinates with outside Agencies for required certifications, such as ATEX, CE, UL, SIL and CSA, to meet the design specifications.

Works directly with sales and customers during the order review process to verify compliance to customer environmental design requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET) from an accredited university or college

Minimum 5 years’ experience in progressive engineering assignments

Desired Qualifications

Proven design capabilities

Knowledge of mechanical design involving strength of materials and stress analysis

Experience with 2D and 3D drafting and design
