Location: Herb Rehmann Auxiliary Complex – Facilities School Year: 2024‑2025 Job Type: Auxiliary/Custodian
Primary Purpose Follows routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety and cleanliness. Monitors students in the lunchroom and performs lunchroom duties.
Responsibilities
Maintain a preventive maintenance program to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
Develop and maintain a cleaning schedule that includes floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
Keep the building clean, sanitary, and comfortable during duty hours.
Keep restroom fixtures, hardware, tile, mirrors, etc. clean and replenish supplies as needed.
Perform lunchroom duties, which include monitoring students and cleaning the lunchroom and other areas assigned by the Head Custodian.
Report damage or maintenance needs to head custodian.
Follow daily duty schedule as assigned by head custodian.
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of all aspects of cleaning and basic techniques
Ability to operate cleaning equipment
Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Must pass a pre‑employment physical examination
Experience
Preferable one year custodial experience
Physical and Working Conditions Ability to lift and/or carry moderate weight (15‑54 pounds) on a daily basis, stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, pull, push, reach, repetitive hand motions, speak, maintain visual acuity, and distinguish colors. Must be able to work inside and outside in temperature extremes, low or intense illumination, vibration, work on slippery or uneven surfaces, biological exposure, chemical exposure, and may work alone for long periods of time.
