County Caseworker 1 (Local Government) – Wayne County MH/ID (Multiple Vacancies)
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania invites applications for the County Caseworker 1 (Local Government) – Wayne County MH/ID, a full‑time position (37.5 hours/week).
The role is designed to support families and individuals receiving behavioral health services for intellectual disabilities.
Position Overview Wayne County MH/ID is searching for a caring and responsible person committed to providing families and individuals the highest quality of behavioral health care services.
The caseworker should be patient, exercise good judgment, possess organizational skills and be able to communicate effectively with clients of all ages.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Develops plans for consumers with intellectual disabilities following intake, including treatment plans, enrollment in behavioral health/ID/early intervention/autism programs, and Individual Support Plans (ISP) with detailed goals.
Maintains files, records and other documentation to ensure continuity of care in a timely and organized manner.
Creates life‑management plans and acts as an advocate for consumers to ensure appropriate treatment as approved.
Documents contacts with consumers, family and service providers.
Handles a mix of desk work and field duties that may include frequent standing, climbing steps and walking distances; must be able to climb flights of steps in homes or apartment buildings where no elevators are present.
Manages multiple tasks, paying close attention to detail in a constantly changing work environment and meeting strict deadlines.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full‑time employment; 37.5 hours per week.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 1‑hour lunch.
May work more than eight hours per day.
Occasional overnight travel or out‑of‑County travel for meetings or training.
Frequent driving both in and out of County.
ID Supports Coordinators are not on call (in an emergency may be called out).
No telework option for this position.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework including 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice or other related social sciences.
A bachelor's degree that includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in the aforementioned disciplines.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in those fields plus one year as a County Social Services Aide 3 or similar paraprofessional case‑management role.
Applicants who are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits will be considered to have met the educational requirements.
Other Requirements
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
You must pass a background investigation.
A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require the submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including a PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance and FBI fingerprint clearance.
