REPORTS TO Aquatic Center Coordinators and Recreation Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY The Operations Manager will be responsible for the management and operations of the Operations staff at the Proesel Park Family Aquatic Center. The Operations Manager will prepare staff schedules, evaluate processes, lead training and mentoring of staff, and evaluate staff at the end of the season.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead staff through professional attitude and superior job performance
Directly supervise Operations Attendants
Maintain inventory of Aquatic Center supplies
Complete appropriate documentation including incident and accident reports, instructor evaluations, and other documentation as assigned
Address customer requests and complaints in a courteous and thorough manner, involving managers as needed
Comply with all Village policies, protocols, and procedures
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Adhere to Operations Attendant Duties as Follows
Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of all areas of the Aquatic Center, including but not limited to the pools, pool deck, locker rooms, pool entryway, pool parking lot, and concession stand area
Proactively seek out cleaning needs, safety hazards, and maintenance needs throughout the facility. Resolve issues within level of training and report larger issues to on-site management immediately.
Conduct frequent checks of the locker rooms and pool decks to ensure all areas are properly stocked with supplies, trash cans are emptied, floors are clear and clean, furniture is in-place, etc.
Create a welcoming environment for patrons
Provide patrons with a favorable impression of the Aquatic Center by efficiently and productively completing tasks
Handle cleaning equipment and supplies in an appropriate manner and use only as intended
Maintain a clean and tidy work environment at all times. Take special care to eliminate and reduce potential hazards (i.e. slip, trip, fall) to the public when completing work in public areas.
Work with all cleaning products per the instructions on the bottles
Ensure all cleaning products and chemical bottles in use are labeled. Report any products lacking appropriate labels to management immediately.
Courteously, promptly, and correctly answer all patron questions
Keep all required checklists, inventory, and paperwork up to date
Be aware of emergency action plans and be prepared to perform assigned role at all times
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The wage range for this position is $18.50-$19.50 per hour. This position is seasonal and does not qualify for benefits.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position requires management responsibilities of a supervisory nature. Incumbents must be proficient in basic concepts relating to personnel management.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Completion of American Red Cross Certification in Lifeguarding preferred
Prior experience as Operations Attendant required
High school or college education in progress or completed
This position requires the following.
Ability to positively interact with the public
Ability to lead small group and individual swim lessons with varying ages
Ability to complete and maintain swim lesson paperwork
Must be able to attend all mandatory meetings and instructor development sessions as scheduled
> COMPUTER SKILLS Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn how to navigate and utilize the CivicRec registration system for program rosters and Point of Sale.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to properly fill out incident and accident reports as well be able to communicate in an emergency situation
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITIES Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Understanding of the principles, practices, and objectives of Parks and Recreation administration and of the Proesel Park Family Aquatic Center
Ability to prioritize duties and complete tasks within allotted hours
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Ability to communicate with the public tactfully and courteously
Commitment to promoting the positive image of Village of Lincolnwood
Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Ability to maintain efficient and effective communication with supervisor and subordinates
Ability to pass pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department
Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
