Description Camp Mendocino is a residential summer camp located in Northern California, four hours north of San Francisco and spread over 2,000 acres. We provide transportation between San Francisco and Camp at the start and end of the summer. All Camp employees are expected to live, sleep and work at Camp. As a program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF), we are dedicated to providing children and teens with safe, fun places to learn and grow, with professional staff to offer support and guidance, serving as caring mentors and role models.

Position Purpose: The
Engagement and Marketing Operations Coordinator
supports Camp Mendocino operations through strong parent/guardian communication, engaging photography, partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco Marketing department, and by managing the Camp retail store. A successful candidate for this position will have basic experience in creating communications and taking photographs according to an organization’s brand guidelines. This candidate should also have organizational and administrative skills that will support daily operations in our small retail store, including running sales reports and meeting sales goals. This position will work in the administrative office on-site at Camp Mendocino approximately 3 days per week, and will support directly in our on-site retail store approximately 2 days per week.
Family Engagement & Marketing Responsibilities (55%)
Organize and maintain Camp Mendocino media archive and create opportunities for other Camp staff to contribute image and video files
Collaborate with the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco marketing team, and across Camp program departments, to collect stories about Camp Mendocino’s impact
Align with the Camp Mendocino and Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s brand guidelines to capture high-quality, effective and consistent social media content that engages diverse audience segments using platforms that may include: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Youtube
Spend time taking pictures throughout Camp (in village, at activities, etc.) to ensure all aspects of Camp are highlighted through the photographs, and share highlights with a slide show at the end of each session
Regularly maintain all photography and media equipment
Manage parent/guardian communication platform app, called Campanion, with regular posts that showcase daily life at Camp
Ensure emails between campers and parents/guardians are distributed regularly
Support in the Camp administrative office as needed with basic administrative tasks including answering phones, sending emails, organizing supplies, and supporting general office operations
Participate in regular leadership meetings to develop a holistic understanding of Camp programming and the camper experience
Participate in Camp activities, such as: talent shows, camp fires, and flagpole
Engage campers with a positive attitude, including participating in cheers, talent shows, and overnight hikes
Other duties as specified by direct supervisor
Staff Engagement & Communications Responsibilities (10%)
Support Director of Staff Experience in ensuring good cross-department communication, including using Canva to create flyers/signage for important announcements and events
Manage upkeep for the Camp News Board, which includes written announcements and information for campers and staff
Capture photos/video of staff in specific roles for use in future hiring and recruitment materials
Capture photos/video of staff activities and events, creating an end of summer slideshow/presentation that captures the staff experience
Other duties as specified by direct supervisor
Retail Responsibilities (35%)
Supervise the Canteen Coordinator in maintaining an accurate inventory count at all times
Support the Canteen Coordinator in maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting storefront
Partner with Canteen Coordinator to reach weekly sales goals
Run a point of sale system for camper, staff, and guest purchases
Accurately manage cash box
Effectively use online sales system
Run weekly reports to track sales goals, inventory, and scholarship money
Utilize innovative techniques and ideas to sell Camp merchandise and food
Mentor campers through a job training program
Supervise campers effectively throughout the day while participating in Camp store activities
Other duties as assigned
Requirements Required Skills
Experience in marketing, communications, social media, or related field
Experience working in retail sales, inventory management, or related field
Experience with administrative tasks including customer service
Proven ability to create flyers or other print materials according to organization brand guidelines
Ability to work with youth and staff in a positive manner
Knowledge of Google Sheets and other Google Suite products
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle difficult or stressful situations in a professional manner
Excellent communication skills
Honesty and integrity
Ability to manage money and merchandise inventory accurately
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers and campers
Desire to work outdoors 24/7
Preferred Skills
Experience with Canva or other design platform

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
Must be able to walk on uneven terrain for at least 3 miles.
Must be able to stand for 8 hours (with breaks).
Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 30° to 100°.

Staff members work 40-56 hours/week depending on position with two days off per week. Days off vary per session.
Lodging Lodging is provided for all staff on site. The
Engagement and Marketing Operations Coordinator
will not be required to stay in a cabin with youth, but will be assigned bunk‑style indoor housing that may be shared with up to 3 other staff members.

Depending on the need and requirement of the position, an individual could be hired at or near the entry‑level, mid‑level, or top‑of‑the‑range for their role and compensation. As such, a reasonable estimate for this temporary summer position from June 12- August 6, 2026, is $4,195.00.
