Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, promoting a sales culture and delivering outstanding guest service.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provide best‑in‑class guest service, greet guests promptly, and respond to questions quickly and courteously.

Support the total shopping environment, including visual merchandising and current sales initiatives.

Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the POS system.

Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone and, when appropriate, elevate issues to the Store Manager.

Promote GameStop’s guest benefits programs.

Assist the Store Manager with setting service expectations, training staff, and providing feedback.

Ensure store associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to shift.

Schedule staff and supervise staffing levels to achieve optimum guest service.

Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify correct pay.

Maintain store cleanliness, merchandising, and equipment condition.

Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.

Practice effective inventory control and loss prevention.

Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals.

Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and organize the sales floor.

Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals in the POS system.

Verify shipments for discrepancies and record them.

Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls accurately.

Ensure associate and guest safety.

Maintain store records and files.

Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders.

Consistently adhere to GameStop policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Adhere to opening and closing procedures.

Qualifications

Provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.

Minimum age 18 years.

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.

At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.

At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.

Video game knowledge preferred.

Reliable and trustworthy with good judgment.

Physically capable: stand, move, lift up to 30 lbs., climb ladders.

Benefits Full‑time store positions are eligible for incentive programs, 401(k), paid time off, dental, vision, and health insurance. Additional bonuses and incentives may apply.

Compensation $17.75 - $21.75 per hour.
