About the Role We are looking for an Underground Geotechnical Technician to support the development of underground mining at Bingham Canyon. The primary responsibilities for this position are ground support quality assurance and quality control. This role will be a field‑based position with limited office work. This is a technical role; the work may be physically demanding and much of your time spent will be underground.

Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer and working collaboratively with all operational and functional departments, you will be responsible for:

Tracking sampling compliance and completing strength testing for shotcrete and cemented rock fill

Completing rock‑bolt pull testing in an underground environment

Completing and overseeing installation of geotechnical monitoring equipment

Troubleshooting of geotechnical monitoring hardware

Maintaining QAQC data in various systems and issuing monthly reports

Supporting geotechnical engineers in various underground tasks, such as geotechnical inspections and monitoring

Overseeing calibration of geotechnical monitoring and testing equipment

Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

High school diploma

Strong commitment to safety and promotion of a safety culture

At least 2 years in underground mining experience preferred

Ability to work in cross‑functional and multi‑disciplinary teams

Strong communication skills, including preparation of technical reports and presentations to peers from other mine disciplines and senior management

Ability to solve and communicate technical problems with practical solutions

Ability to perform physical work in hands‑on underground mine setting

Ability to operate vehicle in an underground mine setting

It will also be beneficial if you have

Experience using Microsoft Excel, Deswik and Vulcan or similar 3D modelling software

Post‑secondary education in a technical discipline

Minor electrical wiring skills or experience in the connection of sensors
