Apply for the Health Protection Nurse role at NHS Dumfries & Galloway. This full‑time, permanent position is based at Mountainhall Treatment Centre in Dumfries.
Overview We are recruiting a Health Protection Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team comprising nurses, consultants and business support. The postholder will respond to the prevention and control of communicable diseases and environmental hazards impacting the health of the population of Dumfries and Galloway.
Responsibilities
Provide a robust response to communicable disease control.
Collaborate with public health teams and external stakeholders such as Environmental Health Officers, care home settings, and Infection Prevention and Control teams.
Deliver health protection activities including service planning, policy development, protocol and guidelines implementation.
Provide evidence‑based advice to patients, communities, healthcare teams and other professionals.
Maintain core working hours Monday–Friday 9am‑5pm, with flexibility as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Registered Nurse with significant post‑registration experience.
Clinical experience ideally in a related discipline.
Experience in infection control, infectious diseases or public health is desirable.
Confident communicator able to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
