Supervisor, Medical Imaging
The Supervisor, Medical Imaging manages and performs duties involving a variety of technical procedures. This role is responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities, personnel and equipment to assure efficient operation in Imaging Services. The Supervisor achieves organizational and departmental objectives by providing quality imaging services.
Essential Functions
Communicates effectively, establishing and maintaining two‑way communication with peers, staff, physicians, leaders, and administration. Maintains a clean, neat and safe environment for patients and staff, including radiation safety. Correctly identifies and uses appropriate personal protective equipment. Demonstrates population‑appropriate competencies for all relevant patient populations. Ensures supplies and equipment for patient care are readily available and organized efficiently. Uses equipment safely, adhering to policy, guidelines, and protocols set by the hospital and department. Ensures continuity of professional care. Performs procedures in designated modalities, assessing patient needs. Assigns staff and workload requirements, adjusting priorities in daily operations. Participates in a variety of tasks related to management of the department and can assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the Director. Monitors status of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, gathers data on equipment malfunction and associated downtime, and documents its effect on patient care. Provides practical instruction to students and other healthcare professionals. Controls inventory and oversees the purchase of supplies within areas of responsibility. Gathers data and participates in the department’s quality assurance and improvement plan to achieve a defined level of quality and appropriateness of patient care. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Complies with all policies and standards. Leadership Responsibilities

Supervises, trains, and oversees departmental staff. Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources and consults with the Manager or Director on staffing issues. Assists with and contributes to performance evaluations and goal setting. Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight
Assists in managing departmental budget, ensuring cost‑effective operations while maintaining high‑quality service. Monitors expenditures to ensure cost‑effective delivery of services. Contributes to evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency. Contributes to the development of departmental policies, procedures, and protocols. Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies. Participates in audits, inspections, and accreditation processes as applicable. Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and safety. Collaboration and Communication
Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery. Stays up‑to‑date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes. Staff Responsibilities
May work in a staff role when required, ensuring duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for the job. Qualifications
Associate Degree or higher preferred. 1–2 years of related experience in the profession required. 1–2 years of previous leadership experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and manage cross‑functional relationships. ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required. Licensed Radiologic Technologist as required by state required. BCLS – Basic Life Support required.
