Athletic Trainer
Lincoln Memorial University – Harrogate, Tennessee.
Position Details The Athletic Trainer is a full‑time staff position within the Department of Athletics. This individual reports to and works under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer. The position covers 22 NCAA Division II sports within the South Atlantic Conference and performs athletic training room coverage.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or entry‑level master’s degree in Athletic Training.
NATABOC certified.
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Tennessee.
Current CPR/AED certification.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field.
1–3 years experience working with contact sport, preferably in a collegiate setting.
Responsibilities
Promote the mission of LMU, the School of Allied Health Sciences, and the Department of Athletic Training to faculty, staff, students, and the broader community.
Foster effective and collegial working relationships among faculty, staff, and students, while adhering to policies outlined in the Faculty/Staff Policy Manual.
Contribute to institutional development through service on university committees and by representing the School and Department at professional meetings.
Promote and maintain a positive and inclusive work environment within the clinical setting for students, student‑athletes, coaches, faculty, and staff.
Ensure delivery of safe and effective clinical experiences for athletic training students by supervising them during intercollegiate athletic team assignments, serving as a role model, and monitoring their progress as an approved preceptor.
Explore career opportunities for students and support their preparation for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam.
Provide comprehensive intercollegiate athletic coverage as assigned, including staffing athletic training facilities, preventing, evaluating, treating, rehabilitating athletic injuries and illnesses, and documenting all relevant medical records in compliance with legal and institutional guidelines.
Commit to best practices in athletic training, incorporating evidence‑based clinical practices that prioritize the health and well‑being of student‑athletes.
Work closely with the Head Athletic Trainer to support all aspects of the university’s medical program, including budget and supply management, equipment safety and maintenance, and scheduling physical examinations and medical referrals.
Assist with development and implementation of the university’s drug testing and education program, and help coordinate hiring, training, and supervision of Athletic Trainers and Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers.
Schedule sports coverage, manage clinical responsibilities, and ensure compliance with South Atlantic Conference, NCAA, and other governing body regulations.
Maintain professional certification through ongoing development and education and perform other duties as assigned in support of the university’s mission and student success.
