Summary Manages individualized, goal‑directed nursing care through the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Charge Nurse responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
Develops, discusses, and communicates a plan of care in collaboration with each patient, family, or significant other to address all identified needs.
Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement the medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for patient care.
Evaluates identified problems, care provided, and patient responses, reassessing to meet patient and family needs and ensure overall quality of care delivered.
Maintains up‑to‑date and accurate documentation of nursing care to integrate information for use by the healthcare team, ensuring quality care.
Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure, pursuing professional growth and development.
Functions as a role model for current and new staff.
Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Peri‑operative Services division as defined in the scope of service to ensure patient safety.
Assists licensed and non‑licensed personnel in patient care as needed.
Attends all required safety training programs and can describe responsibilities related to general safety, departmental or service safety, and specific job‑related hazards.
Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and colleagues to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team to facilitate meeting departmental goals and objectives.
Non‑Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned.
Professional Requirements
Complete annual education requirements.
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Report to work on time and as scheduled.
Wear identification while on duty.
Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.
Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.
Comply with all organizational policies.
Conduct oneself as a professional in accordance with PRIDE values.
Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
Attend regular staff meetings and in‑services.
Job Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current Iowa State Registered Nurse License.
ACLs, PALS, BLS, PEARS.
