Part-Time Position – Palmetto Campus (Current)

Summary of the Job The Associate Chaplain is responsible for planning and administering a specific program within an area according to guidelines provided by GBCH&FM. The primary function is to provide spiritual guidance, leadership, and opportunities for worship and study for the residents and staff on duty. The Associate Chaplain should be committed to Sanctuary practice utilizing tools that reinforce our shared language to create a trauma‑responsive culture.

Minimum Requirements

At least 25 years of age.

Bachelor’s degree in religion/Divinity seminary preferred or Chaplaincy certification or working toward certification.

Three years’ experience working in ministry or related field (social work, psychology).

Must demonstrate initiative, be self‑directed, work well independently.

Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Christian of dependable character and a loyal and supportive member of a church in an evangelical denomination.

Have the ability to manage time, set priorities and to organize and follow structured routines.

Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications.

Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Coordinate and assist with weekly opportunities for worship for clients who cannot leave campus to attend community churches.

Provide regular opportunities for religious education for all clients.

Ensure Biblical content being taught to clients aligns with Baptist beliefs.

Teach Bible/religious courses in campus schools as needed.

Be available to clients and staff for guidance and direction in matters of faith and provide discipleship when appropriate.

Provide pastoral care for clients and staff as available.

Serve as client ombudsman.

Demonstrate leadership, develop teamwork and function as a contributing member of the team.

Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with other staff members resulting in positive program outcomes.

Serve as liaison for the agency with other professionals involved with the program and coordinate with appropriate staff/volunteers involvement including program sponsors.

Assist families in family care program connect with local churches as needed.

Utilize personal safety plan for managing emotions and interactions with staff and clients.

Participate in PQI process for assigned program.

Represent agency favorably at all times.

Other duties as assigned.
