Full Time Parks Supervisor at Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation Service Area Position Purpose
Responsible for maintaining Service Area parks and grounds efficiently to provide a clean, safe, and comfortable atmosphere for patrons. May also serve as Project Leader. Essential Functions And Basic Duties
Effectively maintain Service Area grounds and parks. Supervise assigned area (Butler Park, Bywater Park, Mountview Park, Antczak Park, City Areas). Inspect turf irrigation systems regularly and perform repairs as needed. Care for turf areas: mow, edge, trim, prune, weed, spot water. Perform major cleaning and refurbishment duties as assigned. Maintain ball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts daily. Inspect and perform minor repairs on playground equipment. Clean restrooms and pavilions daily. Ensure a safe environment by inspecting grounds and facilities. Establish and maintain effective working relations with area personnel and management. Schedule maintenance crew activities to ensure a clean and safe park atmosphere. Attend staff meetings as required. Keep management informed of area activities and significant problems. Assist area staff as needed. Maintain accurate inventory of tools and supplies. Perform other duties as assigned. Follow established safety procedures. Keep work area clean and free of clutter. During off season (November-February) perform visual maintenance, refurbishment, snow removal, and adjust hours to meet Service Area needs. Supervise Groundskeepers and Park Workers. Ensure each park is efficiently managed. Ensure safety procedures are followed by Groundskeepers and Park Workers. Inspect playground equipment, ball diamonds, grounds, restrooms, and pavilions for cleanliness and safety. Performance Measurements
Service Area parks are safe, comfortable, and well-maintained. Turf areas are cared for regularly and effectively. Preventative maintenance is performed as scheduled on lawn equipment. Scheduling of maintenance crews is efficient and effective. Management is well informed of area activities. Safety procedures are followed according to established standards. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s License and copy of Motor Vehicle Record before employment. Approved criminal background investigation if over 18 years old. Minimum of 1 year turf management experience. Experience as leadsman, foreman, or equivalent of 1 year supervisory experience. Experience in building or landscaping preferred. Familiar with a wide variety of power‑driven machinery and gas‑powered lawn equipment. Good physical health and strength. Good organization skills. Able to work evenings and weekends. Basic mechanical and handyman abilities. Working Conditions
Works both inside and outside; subject to weather. Must work in extreme heat for more than an hour; temperatures above 100 degrees. Must work under hazardous conditions including high places, chemical exposures, electrical current, moving machinery, exposure to blood, etc. Seniority Level
