Position Summary The Horizontal Continuous Casting (HCC) Supervisor reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is responsible for overseeing end-to-end aluminum horizontal continuous casting operations.

This includes direct supervision of casting, peeling, ultrasonic testing (UT), cutting, and packing activities to ensure safe operations, consistent quality, and on‑time delivery.

This role requires a hands‑on supervisory approach, with active shop‑floor involvement to support production, troubleshoot process or equipment issues, and lead teams during critical operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supervise daily horizontal continuous casting operations including metal transfer, mold/graphite tooling, cooling control, puller operation, and cut‑to‑length processes.

Maintain stable casting conditions by controlling metal temperature, casting speed, cooling rates, and tooling condition.

Coordinate downstream operations including peeling, ultrasonic testing (UT), cutting, and packing.

Oversee peeling operations including depth‑of‑cut control, tooling condition, alignment, and yield optimization.

Ensure ultrasonic testing is performed per internal procedures and customer specifications.

Review UT results, identify defect trends, and coordinate disposition of nonconforming material.

Oversee cutting operations ensuring cut‑length accuracy, blade condition, and minimal cut loss.

Supervise packing operations ensuring correct bundling, labeling, protection, and traceability.

Maintain full heat and lot traceability through casting, inspection, cutting, and packing.

Enforce safety requirements related to molten metal, equipment, saws, UT systems, and material handling.

Provide hands‑on support during startups, equipment downtime, staffing shortages, or process disruptions.

Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to resolve issues.

Monitor scrap, peel yield, UT rejects, cut loss, and downtime; implement corrective actions.

Train, coach, and develop operators across all downstream processes.

Support continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and process optimization.

Availability for weekends or off‑shift support as required.

Required Skills & Abilities

Strong knowledge of aluminum horizontal continuous casting operations.

Working knowledge of peeling, ultrasonic testing, cutting, and packing processes.

Hands‑on troubleshooting capability in a manufacturing or foundry environment.

Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.

Ability to interpret process data, inspection results, and production metrics.

Familiarity with quality systems, traceability, and customer requirements.

Ability to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions in a fast‑paced environment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in a hot, noisy industrial manufacturing environment.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Ability to bend, stretch, squat, climb, and work around industrial equipment.
