Responsibilities
Oversee daily premium accounting operations within the Agency Management System, including billing, commissions, premium finance, A/R and A/P management, aging reviews, and carrier/broker payments
Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and financial statement analysis
Manage month-end close and core accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany transactions, GAAP compliance, and financial analysis
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with US GAAP, company policies, and financial services regulations
Review invoices and premium-related transactions for proper documentation, coding, and approval before processing
Prepare and manage correspondence related to disputes, revisions, overpayments, exceptions, and agency bill audits; respond promptly to internal inquiries
Support financial reporting and operations through audits, integrations of acquired firms, process improvements, special projects, and cross-functional collaboration
Collaborate with corporate finance on audit requests, special projects, and cross-functional initiatives
Proactively identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in premium and general accounting workflows
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
3+ years of relevant professional experience preferred
Applied Epic and insurance accounting knowledge preferred
Proficient in general ledger systems; strong understanding of accrual accounting and month-end close
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word
Solid understanding of accounting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures within financial services; familiarity with HIPAA is a plus
Self-starter with demonstrated ownership and follow-through; able to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to commute to the Deerfield, IL office at least twice per month
Additional Information This job requires presence in the office on a hybrid schedule as agreed with the manager.

The salary range is $90k to 100K per year. This role is annual bonus eligible.
