The Operations Manager - Metals/Inc. Dallas is responsible for building, launching, and leading operations at the new Dallas branch, which will also serve as the division’s Central Inventory & Distribution Hub. This facility is strictly an inventory, warehousing, and distribution operation. No processing is performed at this site, and it will operate independently from the Arbor Metals Dallas branch, with its own leadership, workflows, and performance expectations.
Build and launch the new Metals/Inc. Dallas Branch
Lead the creation and setup of the new inventory and distribution hub.
Design site layout, racking, storage logic, staging zones, consolidation areas, and material‑flow patterns.
Build the organization structure and recruit key personnel.
Develop all SOPs, training programs, visual management systems, and audit routines.
Position Dallas as the flagship branch.
Work from the Houston location initially to understand the existing transfer system, Port of Houston delivery workflows, local vendor deliveries, and identify all operational issues and bottlenecks.
Implement the Division‑Wide Transfer System (Hub & Spoke)
Design and execute the transfer model connecting Dallas to all seven spoke branches.
Establish predictable transfer loops, routing logic, and staging processes.
Implement visibility and communication tools for reliable transfers.Drive improvements in timeliness, accuracy, and traceability.
Assess and design an overnight trunking system enabling next‑morning delivery to spoke branches, allowing sales teams to offer faster delivery windows and accept orders later in the day.
Lead Warehouse, Inventory & Distribution Operations
Oversee receiving, put‑away, storage, picking, shipping, dispatch, and transfer preparation.
Maintain industry‑leading inventory accuracy.
Ensure organized, safe, and structured warehouse operations.
Process Excellence (6S, Lean, Standard Work)
Implement and sustain 6S across the facility.
Build standard work for all warehouse routines.
Use KPIs and visual management for accountability.
Preventative Maintenance & Facility Reliability
Implement PM for material handling equipment, racking systems, safety infrastructure, and building assets.
Maintain operational readiness and minimize downtime.
Capital Projects (CapEx)
Lead CapEx layout optimization, safety enhancements, and facility upgrades.
Build ROI justifications and manage execution.
Assist operations leaders at other facilities justifying and presenting CapEx projects.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Represent the Dallas Hub at Division Leadership Meetings.
Partner with spoke branches and cross‑functional teams.
Apply insights from the Houston immersion period to eliminate bottlenecks and redesign processes.
Position Dallas as the training and standard‑setting environment for spoke operations.
Inventory Accuracy, Quality & Compliance
Maintain industry‑leading accuracy.
Ensure compliance with quality expectations and divisional SOPs.
Safety, Culture & People Development
Build a culture of safety, accountability, and operational discipline.
Develop supervisors and leads through coaching and structured feedback.
Required Qualifications
5+ years operations leadership in warehousing, distribution, or logistics.
Experience launching or transforming warehouse operations.
Strong 6S/Lean background.
Ability to write SOPs and build structured operating systems.
ERP proficiency (Eniteo preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
Lean Six Sigma certification.
Metals distribution experience.
Hub‑and‑spoke logistics experience.
CapEx leadership experience.
