Position Summary The Program Specialist provides program and operational support to a portfolio of existing and future developed continuing education programs. These programs are offered across a variety of modalities including in‑person, hybrid, and online and cover a range of disciplines supporting the lifetime educational journey of Georgians. The Program Coordinator collaborates with UGA staff, faculty, and subject matter experts to develop and deliver training programs designed to meet the needs and demands of the workforce. Additionally, this position is needed to develop new opportunities for sponsored/contract work.

This position involves a commitment to customer service, the willingness to work collaboratively in a changing environment, and the skill to work with members of the University community (faculty, staff, and students) as well as those outside of the University community (SME, businesses, etc.) who have diverse skills and expertise. The Program Specialist supports a range of activities related to the planning, development, and execution of programs in a self‑sustaining unit, including on site coordination, program development, student support, evaluation efforts, community engagement, instructor/speaker support, and other organizational initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies

Ability to manage a variety of training and continuing education tasks for a diverse portfolio of continuing education programs (e.g., conducting online research, coordinating registration, program planning)

Knowledge of various types of educational delivery (preferably professional education/development, continuing education, training, etc.) and understanding of college organization, goals, and objectives, policies and procedures

Ability to build working relationships in various areas, including higher education, & corporate settings

Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to use Learning Management Systems to deliver online training

Ability to implement different teaching methodologies in support of optimized learning

Administrative skills including ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Customer service- focused on customer experience and a basic understanding of marketing concepts

Physical Demands

Sitting for long periods of time.

Work in front of computer screen for extended periods.

Duties/Responsibilities Percentage Of Time: 40%

Coordinate and oversee content delivery and development of assigned and newly developed courses with instructors including contracting, content development, content review, collaboration with instructional design team, course scheduling, onsite and online program support, and instructor agreement preparation.

Work and communicate with subject matter experts, instructors, faculty, staff, and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful program delivery.

Approve course descriptions, learning objectives, and agendas for CEU approval, following Board of Regents guidelines.

Input and manage program details in Georgia Center event management system (PSO Connect).

Respond to student questions via email and phone about courses to increase interest and potential enrollment.

Percentage Of Time: 30%

Research new program topics of interest and pursue program development.

Recruit and secure new SME’s, instructors, and coach mentors as needed for program development.

Work with Georgia Center web instructional developers to develop new online courses.

Percentage Of Time: 20%

Review existing programs and determine feasibility for additional delivery formats, including course spinoffs.

Create, manage, and report on course budgets to achieve positive financial revenue results.

Support program marketing to include: website updates, review of external advertising agency campaigns, creation of promotional opportunities, and identification of potential further opportunities for program promotion.

Percentage Of Time: 10%

Assist with CE projects and/or other duties supporting the strategic initiatives of the organization.

Serve on internal and external committees.

Periodically exhibit CE certificate programs at conferences and/or industry association expos to generate enrollments.
