Job Description
Position Summary: This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of donors and purity of product during the plasma collection process. The phlebotomist monitors donors throughout collection, responds to equipment errors or donor reactions, and maintains product integrity by managing Level 1 reactions, product disposition, and sample collection.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Identify donors in accordance with SOPs.
Greet donors courteously and professionally.
Set up and ready automated collection devices.
Perform arm scrub correctly to ensure donor safety and product purity.
Verify label print clarity, legibility, and alignment.
Label collection bottles as defined in ADMA SOPs.
Collect and label required samples at the donor bedside.
Inspect soft goods prior to use for breakage, kinks, or contamination.
Perform quality control of area equipment.
Operate automated collection equipment following ADMA SOPs and manufacturer instructions.
Monitor donors for reactions before, during, and after plasmapheresis.
Disconnect donors from equipment and ensure they are in good physical condition before release.
Document collection issues accurately in the center system.
Report unsafe situations or conditions to the immediate supervisor.
Maintain product integrity of plasma units and associated samples.
Stage units for shipment and samples for testing.
Physically arrange samples and cases in freezer to ensure organization.
Interact professionally with donors, maintaining courteous and attentive service.
Collaborate with coworkers, demonstrating teamwork, respect, and courtesy.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
Ability to interpret health history and vital signs in relation to company criteria.
Understanding and interpretation of government regulations and customer specifications.
Ability to work in a high‑pressure, deadline‑driven environment.
Intermediate computer proficiency (office programs).
Experience organizing freezer cases and samples for easy retrieval.
Experience performing quality control of equipment in processing and packing areas.
Experience obtaining backup samples as required for laboratory or customers.
Maintains confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
Assists with administrative duties supporting Donor Center initiatives.
Attends scheduled staff training and meetings.
Additional duties related to supporting business needs as assigned by management.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience as a phlebotomist in a blood or plasma collection center.
Minimum of 12 months in the health field, or equivalent education and experience.
Compliance Requirements
Strict adherence to cGMPs, ADMA SOPs, and applicable regulations.
Annual GMP training.
Maintains an organized, clean work environment; cleans spills and floor before next task.
Ensures supplies are available as needed.
Disinfects bed thoroughly between each donor.
Taught donors how to use the self‑administered questionnaire and assisted as needed.
Performs donor arm checks.
Records donor vital signs and weight in the donor center system.
Determines donor suitability by reviewing questionnaire responses.
Defers donors based on acceptance and deferral criteria.
Explains deferrals and associated time frames to donors.
