Full-Time Bank Teller
Position Summary
A Bank Teller serves as the frontline representative of the bank, facilitating daily financial transactions and delivering exceptional customer service. The role involves handling cash, checks, money transfers, and guiding customers on bank products, all while ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with policies and regulations. Core Responsibilities
Process Transactions: Handle deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, cash advances, and check cashing. Issue money orders, cashier’s checks, savings bonds, and traveler’s checks. Cash Management: Count and package currency; reconcile cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift. Monitor ATM deposits/withdrawals (where applicable). Customer Service: Greet customers, answer inquiries, resolve issues professionally, and maintain confidentiality. Assist customers with opening/closing accounts, ordering checks or debit cards, and navigating digital banking. Sales & Referrals: Identify and discuss customer needs; cross-sell bank products like checking, savings, credit cards, and loans. Refer clients to specialized services when appropriate. Security & Compliance: Verify customer identities and detect counterfeit currency or potential fraud. Adhere to internal controls, bank policies, and federal regulations (e.g., CTRs, Reg CC, confidentiality, robbery protocols). Cash Inventory & Supplies: Maintain adequate supplies and ensure proper handling of documents, ticket capture, and reordering. Required Qualifications & Skills
Education: High school diploma or GED; vocational training or part-time college is beneficial. Experience: Preferably 1+ year in cash-handling roles (banking, retail, or hospitality). Numeracy & Attention to Detail: Strong math skills for counting, balancing, and minimizing errors. Customer Service & Communication: Friendly, patient, and professional interaction skills. Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with banking software, ATMs, and digital platforms. Security Awareness: Capable of identifying fraud and upholding security protocols. Sales Aptitude: Ability to engage customers and promote relevant banking products. Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Full-time in-branch role, with occasional hours depending on the branch. Involves standing for extended periods and handling cash/documents regularly. Fast-paced environment with performance tied to accuracy, compliance, and customer satisfaction targets. Performance Metrics
Accuracy: Cash drawer accuracy and transaction error rates. Customer Satisfaction: Service ratings, resolution times, and complaint handling. Sales Goals: Number of referrals, account openings, and product cross-sells. Compliance Standards: Audit results, fraud detection, and adherence to regulatory procedures.
