Assistant City Attorney UN (Multiple Positions) The City of Albuquerque Legal Department is hiring for multiple Assistant City Attorney positions. Attorneys will provide broad legal services to the City and represent it in court and before state, federal, and administrative bodies. Responsibilities include acting as general counsel to various City departments, handling legal services for the Department of Municipal Development (DMD), and representing the City in civil litigation claims.

Position Summary Attention to detail and strong writing and interpersonal skills are essential. Preferences include experience with litigation, contract drafting and review, government agencies, government compliance, and policy writing. Salary is based upon experience. A hybrid in‑person/remote work schedule is available. This is an unclassified at‑will position.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Additional Requirements

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school recognized by the American Bar Association.

Must be an active member of the State Bar of New Mexico in good standing, or be able to become licensed in New Mexico within three (3) months from the date of hire.

Possession of a valid New Mexico driver’s license or the ability to obtain one by the date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within six (6) months from the date of hire.

Resume and a writing sample submitted with application.
