Paid Parental and Uniformed Services Leave
Equipment Operator – St. Paul, VA What you will be doing
Operate heavy equipment to transfer product to equipment and trucks
Operate front-end loader and dozer, and various heavy equipment
Assist with work‑site tasks “outside of operating equipment” including but not limited to hand labor, repairs, equipment maintenance, and general clean‑up
Maintain accurate daily records on equipment pre‑shifts
Maintain equipment on a daily basis, which includes, but not limited to scheduled/unscheduled equipment lube and maintenance
Maintain work‑site cleanliness (daily) which includes, but not limited to: scheduled/unscheduled work‑site duties as outlined in work‑site duty roster
Complete all other work‑site duties as assigned by direct supervisor to get the work done
Willingness to receive and follow directions from site supervisor
Demonstrate a desire to work with others to get the job done
Committed to working safely at all times
Complete all tasks as assigned by the site supervisor
Demonstrate commitment to the operation by being punctual and working the designated work schedule
Understand the importance of and demonstrate good communication skills with Savage customers and employees
Demonstrate desire to acquire the necessary skills to do the job safely and in a way that adds value to our customer/operation
What we need from you
1+ year experience operating a front end loader and/or dozer
Willingness to help with all worksite duties that require attention, as directed by the site supervisor and/or operations manager
Ability to attain an MSHA certification required
Demonstrate worksite dependability by being punctual and present for scheduled work shifts
Determined always to wear the appropriate and required PPE
Professionally conduct yourself at all times
Demonstrate excellent workplace safety, and is dedicated to helping others do the same
Willingness and ability to follow all rules and procedures as outlined by Savage
Willingness and ability to work holidays and weekends
Follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision
Communicate effectively in English including basic skills in reading, writing, and comprehension
Physical Requirements
Work outdoors every day and as a result will be exposed to the elements
Able to lift 50‑70 lbs
Climb on and off railcars and heavy equipment and tie processing equipment safely
Work on uneven ballast surfaces for long periods of time while performing duties which include walking, standing, and lifting
