As a Housekeeper for the MVH-Bemidji, you will perform housekeeping and maintenance activities to ensure a clean, comfortable, healthy, and safe environment for our residents, staff, and others, in accordance with established standards, guidelines, and applicable state and federal laws, rules, and policies.
Responsibilities
Perform housekeeping and maintenance activities for the Minnesota Veterans Home (MVH) in Bemidji.
Maintain floor coverings, carpets, and other surfaces using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
Use chemical cleaning agents safely and dispose of them according to regulations.
Operate maintenance tools and equipment, and perform minor repairs.
Use hand tools and handle light materials manually.
Operate ladders and scaffolding safely.
Perform laundry functions.
Work in adverse weather conditions and with limited supervision.
Operate simple maintenance equipment and follow operational manuals.
Keep simple records of work performed.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents, and equipment.
Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents, and soaps sufficient to select and handle the agents safely.
Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to operate and use them effectively and make minor repairs.
Additional Requirements
Compliance with a Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check for the top finalist(s), if conducted.
Completion of a Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x‑ray) prior to employment.
Employment reference checks for finalists, including review of documentation related to job performance and contact with former employer(s).
