Work Shift: Evening Shift – 2:00pm to 10:30pm

Salary: $39.30 to $58.16 per hour plus $2.75 per hour shift differential for hours worked between 6:00pm and 6:00am

Job Class: Registered Nurse

Responsibilities As a Registered Nurse for the Minnesota Veterans Home–Bemidji, you will deliver care within the RN scope of practice, as defined in the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act and in accordance with current federal, state and Veteran Administration regulations. Provide assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver quality resident‑centered care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the residents. The position is designated as part‑time and primarily evening shift.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse in good standing, no restrictions. If currently not licensed, must obtain licensure by date of hire. Future RNs within six months of graduating and taking the NCLEX‑RN are encouraged.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross or ability to be certified by date of hire.

Effective communication sufficient to provide and follow instructions and teach skills to residents.

Computer skills sufficient to complete electronic charting, specifically in PointClickCare.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a skilled nursing facility, long‑term care, or other senior healthcare environment.

Experience working with a Veteran population.

Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff, make or recommend changes, and provide mentoring.

Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques sufficient to provide effective nursing care and the ability to make decisions within the scope of nursing responsibilities.

Effective interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.

Experience with minimum data set (MDS) assessments.

Additional Requirements

May be subject to a Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check for finalists. Must pass the DHS background check.

Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening or chest x‑ray required prior to employment.
