Evermore Orlando Resort is an expansive and technically complex property spanning 1,100 acres with multiple operational components. The resort integrates resort‑owned vacation rental homes, large‑scale water features, and extensive recreational infrastructure. The eight‑acre Evermore Bay lagoon includes advanced water treatment, circulation, and safety systems that require continuous monitoring. Two championship golf courses, numerous pools, water sports facilities, and a wide range of amenities—including pickleball courts, event spaces, and dining venues—enhance the offerings. This diverse environment demands sophisticated engineering oversight to ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability across all systems.
Position Summary The Turf Equipment Mechanic is a part of the Golf Maintenance team and is responsible for repairs to golf course and grounds equipment, including golf cart fleet.
Key Responsibilities
Critical Diagnostics & Repairs: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical failures in specialized equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and small engines. Respond to equipment breakdowns on the course and conduct spot checks to ensure operators use machinery safely and correctly. Report maintenance defects to Turf Equipment Manager or Supervisor.
Precision Turf Equipment Management: Perform sharpening, grinding, and adjustment of reels and bedknife to ensure turf is cut to exact superintendent standards. Grind, sharpen, and height‑adjust mowing reels. Inspect and adjust mowers before and after each use.
Preventative Maintenance & Shop Operations: Provide maintenance of gasoline and diesel‑powered equipment, including oil changes and lubrication. Perform repairs and maintenance to small tools such as edgers and blowers. Inspect golf carts on a routine basis for preventative maintenance. Maintain a daily performance log of issues and repairs. Order parts and maintain inventories.
Safety, Compliance & Environmental: Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures. Keep current with chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Recycle or dispose of oils and other fluids per operating standards. Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
General Operations & Communication: Keep storage area clean, organized, and stocked. Interact with golfers, answer questions, and provide directions. Utilize electric carts and/or motorized vehicles. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Skills and Experience
Core Technical Skills & Experience: Proficient in gas, diesel, small engines, hydraulics, and electrical repair—direct mechanical knowledge is the primary requirement. 3 years of experience as a turf equipment technician—specific experience ensures familiarity with the unique demands of golf course machinery.
High‑school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or a degree in turf equipment maintenance are highly preferred—foundational education and specialized certifications enhance technical capability.
Reliability & Work Ethics (Soft Skills): Attention to detail—critical for precision work on mowers and safety checks. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision—essential for managing time and tasks in the workshop or field efficiently. Capable of performing role in a busy work environment—ability to handle peak season demands.
Operational Requirements & Communication: Proficient in reading safety procedures and operating guidelines/instructions in English—ensures safety compliance and proper equipment operation. Ability to interact with guests utilizing conversational English—necessary for professional communication with golfers if field interaction is required. Understanding of the basic principles of golf—provides context for the job and the importance of turf quality standards.
Logistics & Availability: Capable of working scheduled hours, including weekdays, weekends, nights, and holidays—ensures coverage during operational hours of the golf course.
Physical Requirements
Core Physical Abilities & Movement: Able to be on foot and moving around for entire shift—essential for mobility in a large workshop and across the course; able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach repeatedly; able to safely lift up to 50 pounds and carry, pull, and push heavy objects and materials.
Sensory & Manual Dexterity: Ability to see, hear, smell, and have manual dexterity to utilize tools to repair all equipment—necessary sensory functions and fine motor skills for diagnostic work and precise adjustments.
Working Conditions: Subject to environmental conditions; work activities can occur inside and outside.
