Summary:
Deliver excellent patient-centered care by ensuring the financial and surgical communication process is complete for patients having surgical procedures.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Schedule surgery, perform pre-surgery patient education regarding preparation for surgery and communicate with all associated facilities.
Schedule and coordinate pre-op appointments with the patient and/or the patient’s caregiver.
Check every patient chart for insurance benefits, prepare a cost summary and counsel patients regarding finances.
Counsel patients for Physician Fee and Eye Surgery Center.
Follow up on and collect surgery payments.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Desire to gain industry knowledge and training.
Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals.
Ability to grow, adapt, and accept change.
Consistently creating a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient-focused.
Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a courteous, professional manner at all times.
Reliable transportation that would allow employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice.
Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business.
Ability to work weekends when applicable.
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Experience in financial counseling is preferred.
Experience working with insurance is preferred.
Licenses and Credentials
Minimum Required: None.
Systems and Technology
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Physical Requirements
This role requires a variety of physical activities including frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%). Regular bending, stooping, reaching (25-50%). Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., strong fine motor skills, use of technology, and visual/auditory acuity required 100% of the time.
