Job Summary/Purpose
The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating patient appointments, managing scheduling workflows, and ensuring optimal use of hospital resources. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively with clinical staff, patients, and other departments to support smooth patient flow and positive patient experiences. Schedule patient appointments accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper documentation and verification of patient information. Coordinate with clinical departments to manage appointment availability and resolve scheduling conflicts. Communicate with patients regarding appointment confirmations, rescheduling, and cancellations. Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary pre‑authorizations as required for scheduled services. Maintain and update scheduling systems and records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. Address patient inquiries and provide assistance with scheduling‑related concerns in a courteous and professional manner. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards in all scheduling activities. Assist with reporting and documentation related to scheduling metrics and department performance. Role Minimum Qualifications
Required Education
High School Diploma or equivalent Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient with electronic scheduling systems and medical software applications. Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge of insurance processes, pre‑authorizations, and patient registration is a plus. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Preferred Qualifications
Previous scheduling or patient access experience. Education Requirements (All)
