Job Description The Coax Splicer works independently splicing coax span replacements, SDU new builds, Riser transfers, forced relocates and other jobs as assigned by supervision. The Coax Splicer is part of a team responsible to upgrade the existing plant, plant extensions, and new building construction.

Responsibilities

Splice Coax cable of all sizes .875, .715, .700, .625, .540, .500, as well as .750, .650 and 500mcsq.

Dig up and transfer risers from pole to pole, and dig and repair faults as needed.

Efficiently and accurately splice span replacements, SDU, SMB, Forced Relocate both aerial and underground.

Carry and comfortably use a ladder in rear easements.

Read meters to verify EOL readings on all jobs, and properly document them.

Set up Forward and Return/balance.

Must be able to splice on Active devices efficiently.

Balancing and Optimizing of Nodes (training available if not familiar) on SDU, FTTU-vhub locations.

Must be able to efficiently call‑in flashes/smops and work with HFC to close these when complete.

Maintain safety standards at all times.

Requirements Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent, and at least one (2) years' experience.

On‑the‑job training offered. Must be available to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.

Ability to stand, walk, sit

Ability to use hands to handle or feet

Ability to reach with hands and arms

Ability to climb and balance

Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs as needed

Ability to maintain all safety expectations

Works outdoors for extended periods

Exposed to extreme weather conditions

Drive and operate a bucket truck safely

Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains

Must be able to work at heights and/or confined spaces
