Part-Time Chiropractic Assistant / Exercise Technician
Our company is a small woman owned business in Austin, TX. We are a fast‑paced, collaborative Sports Chiropractic and Rehabilitation office that treats the athletic professional and the occasional professional athlete. Techniques include therapeutic exercises, stretching, active release technique, soft tissue release, cupping, Graston, shockwave, dry needling and chiropractic treatment. We are located in Westlake and open three days per week.
Current Work Hours:
Tuesday 8 am – 4 pm
Thursday 8 am – 4 pm
Friday 8 am – 4 pm
About You The ideal candidate is a recent college graduate with a degree in sports science or kinesiology, a current physical therapy student, an athletic trainer, or a certified personal trainer. This hands‑on position involves direct patient care and the development of treatment plans that include exercises and stretches specific to each patient's condition. You will be fully trained and will eventually work independently with patients. The role is similar to that of a physical therapy assistant (PTA). A confidence in speaking with patients and asking detailed questions is essential for a great patient assessment.
Must be self‑motivated, fit, and easily trainable.
Must be punctual and reliable.
Additional tasks include checking patients in/out, collecting co‑pays, contacting patients from referrals, answering phones, and cleaning. This role also involves participation in running the small business.
Preferred Experience and/or Qualifications
Physical therapy student
Chiropractic student
Athletic trainer
Personal trainer
Experience utilizing Athena
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting or customer service role preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using computers and office software.
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures is a plus.
Duties
Greet patients and visitors with a welcoming demeanor.
Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar (Athena Health EMR).
Assist with patient intake, including obtaining medical history and insurance information.
Assist chiropractor and therapy techs with patient care, including preparing treatment rooms.
Provide support to patients during their visit, answering questions and addressing concerns.
Maintain patient records accurately and confidentially, in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Process patient payments and handle billing inquiries.
Coordinate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
Manage inventory of supplies and equipment.
Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide exceptional customer service.
Manage incoming referrals and correspondence with other medical providers, billing department, and patients.
Perform administrative tasks to support the efficient operation of the office.
Requirements
Experience in a medical office setting or similar role is preferred.
Proficiency in medical office software such as Athena Health is a plus.
Familiarity with medical administrative support tasks and front desk operations.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
Cleaning of clinic and equipment.
Memorizing scripts for procedural consistency required.
Ability to multitask effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
