Job Details JOB TITLE: Exercise Therapist/Chiropractic Assistant

FLSA STATUS (Exempt/Non‑Exempt): Non‑Exempt

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Clinic Lead and Chiropractor

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: NONE

General Statement of Duties As a key member of our Chiropractic department, you will be responsible for guiding patients through their rehabilitation and therapy programs. This role involves teaching, supervising, and progressing patients through their individualized care plans.

Essential Functions

Coordinate application of modalities, durable medical equipment, and other modalities such as electrical stimulation, percussion therapy, laser, and physical therapy exercises.

Contribute to the development and refinement of therapeutic exercise and stretching programs.

Accurately document all therapies performed during each visit, including corresponding CPT codes.

Support front desk operations including patient check‑in, flow management, and checkout/scheduling.

Make patient reminders and follow‑up calls as needed.

Maintain cleanliness and organization in the therapy area.

Ensure patient safety is prioritized during every visit.

Education

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

If uncertified, The Arizona Board of Chiropractic requires all assistants who work with chiropractors to be certified within one year of hire and to begin certification training after 90 days.

Preferred qualifications include one or more of the following:

Degree in Exercise Science or Kinesiology

Certified Personal Trainer (CPT)

Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES)

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

Experience

1–2 years of experience in a clinical, chiropractic, or rehabilitation setting.

Experience working with diverse patient populations, including injury recovery and chronic pain management.

Familiarity with functional movement assessments and therapeutic exercise protocols.

Knowledge

Knowledge of Anatomy & Functional Movement

Knowledge of the health care field.

Knowledge of insurance rules and regulations including eligibility and referral requirements. Able to verify eligibility if each payer, per patient according to defined parameters.

Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA Guidelines.

Knowledge of EMR computer charting and is proficient with documentation.

Knowledge of pain management/medical/surgical best practices.

Knowledge of medical office policies and procedures.

Capable of managing multiple patients simultaneously.

Comfortable demonstrating exercises and assisting patients with movement.

Ability to work in an environment that frequently produces a high level of stress and mental fatigue.

Ability to be comfortable performing multiple projects in conjunction with day‑to‑day activities and utilizing time effectively and self‑directed.

Environmental Working Conditions

Ability to stand for extended periods.

Willingness to demonstrate therapy & exercises for patients.

Ability to aid patients in movements as needed.

Ability to lift and carry medical supplies and equipment up to 45 pounds.

Frequent bending, lifting, squatting, and reaching.

Physical/Mental Demands

Good visual acuity, accurate color vision.

Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.

Some bending and stretching required.
