Position Summary
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for managing the release of shipments and all related office and paperwork activities in the shipping department. The role also includes packaging product in boxes, palletizing, weighing, labeling, including shipper documents, loading on carriers, and performing shipping computer activities.
Principle Duties
Communicate with trucking carriers and follow instructions.
Process export shipments through UPS and FedEx computer systems.
Perform all computer transactions to support shipping activity.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Process Shipping Request forms, RANS, Debit Memos, Outside Process work orders, and Purchase Orders.
Understand small and large package dimension limitations.
Work with Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes for exports.
Combine sales orders for shipment consolidation.
Package and load product in accordance with procedures for product.
Safely maneuver in and out of flatbed bay.
Properly set up safety net around truck bay.
Label shipping containers, create and enclose bill of lading.
Identify and pull sales orders.
Identify project liner types, castings, cable ties, and part dimension orders and tag per customer requirements.
Weigh packaged product and record shipping weights prior to loading on carriers.
Load products onto selected carrier using forklift.
Operate crane to load flatbed truck.
Operate Allegheny Industrial paper shredder.
Operate EZ Flow foam packaging machine and switch tanks when refill is needed.
Comply with posted PM schedule.
Work productively and within established production standards.
Essential Qualifications / Experience
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance; any parts weighing over 50 lbs requires a team lift.
Solid computer skills.
Must have basic math skills including addition/subtraction of fractions and decimal values for calculating shipping charges and other related clerical experience.
Good dexterity to perform packaging and related shipping activities.
Must have a basic reading/writing ability to read and interpret customer orders and shipping/trafficking requirements.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
Experience in Excel.
