Maintenance Technician All Shifts – Technician O2
Merck invites an experienced Technician O2 to perform routine operational and maintenance activities within an assigned suite or area. The role requires mechanical aptitude, adherence to cGMP, and commitment to EH&S standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operate within the assigned suite or area independently and perform all routine operational activities and preventative maintenance tasks.
Takes ownership of cGMP compliance, ensuring adherence to SOPs, maintenance task lists, and proper documentation.
Proactively identifies and resolves compliance issues and escalates to higher levels when necessary.
Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and performs basic repairs for assigned equipment.
Proficient in business systems such as SAP, SAP Mobile, DeltaV, and relevant platforms.
Recognizes operational and technical problems, troubleshooting routine issues and escalating complex problems.
Contributes to positive EH&S performance and identifies unsafe conditions.
Works independently to meet timeframes and acts with urgency for emerging issues.
Provides constructive feedback and collaborates with the team.
Communicates with other departments, contractors, or disciplines and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
Assists with automation, validation, and additional testing as required.
Qualifications Education
High School Diploma or GED
Experience and Skills
Minimum 3 years of plant maintenance or technical experience.
Proficiency in one technical craft skill: instrumentation, electrical, plumbing, or advanced mechanical systems.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements in cGMP manufacturing operations.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work with moderate supervision in non‑routine situations.
Preferred Skills
Associate Degree in Industrial Systems, Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Military Training
Familiarity with automated process equipment in the biopharmaceutical field.
Experience with SAP, SAP Mobile, DeltaV, and CMMS calibration/maintenance database systems.
Physical Requirements
Lifts 50 pounds, climbs ladders and stairs, works on platforms and equipment above floor level.
Requires walking, bending, crawling, and stooping.
Must wear personal protective equipment: safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, hard hats, safety harnesses.
Position requires clean room gowning during performance of duties.
