ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION
Goodwill SWMI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Our nearly 300 dedicated team members help achieve our mission of improving the community by providing employment, education, training and support services tailored to individual needs across a six county territory. At Goodwill SWMI, the work we do makes a difference in the lives of the individuals we serve and, in turn, in the communities in which we live.
Goodwill SWMI manages ten retail stores (with attached, attended donation centers and one stand-alone donation center), Contract Manufacturing Operations as well as Custodial & Janitorial business units. These business operations provide stability to our organization that is not always enjoyed by nonprofit organizations solely funded by outside sources.

General Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the team member in this position is to move material into, through and out of the plant while practicing the core values of the Agency: Success, Collaboration, People and Positivity
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Functions
Operate the forklift and other industrial trucks according to all safety procedures Move and stack materials in a safe and efficient manner Inventory management- recording inventory using best practice ensuring materials going into and off trailers, using written inventory practices while ensuring materials, gaylords and pallets are free from damage Stack and organize gaylords and pallets safely and efficiently Set priorities and communicate with team members, Team leaders, Drivers, Plant manager When asked, assist with material handling and any sorting needed Assist with keeping a clean and safe work environment, including dumping trash, running the baler, running the trash compactor, and keeping the outside of the building cleaned up as needed by team leads or managers request Assist the drivers as a truck helper. Duties include but are not limited to unloading and loading trucks with material by hand or by equipment needed to do so. Perform other duties assigned by management that requires attention and operation throughout the plant and stores Abide to all rules and regulations of Goodwill SWMI
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be able to pass forklift training program on first attempt
Knowledge of warehouse or production practices preferred
Possess good hand-eye-foot coordination
Possess spatial awareness – distance, height, depth, width
Ability to set priorities and make good judgments
Ability to work with a team
Education
High school diploma or GED preferred
Must display skills in arithmetic, reading, writing and spelling
Physical Requirements
Standing, reaching, bending twisting, walking and sitting six to eight hours per day; ability to reach and grasp; ability to push and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.; strong sense of balance; may occasionally work outdoors; ability to see out of both eyes with corrective vision and hear with both ears

Must pass and pre-employment drug screen and theft-related background check.
Must be able to work five days per week during regular plant hours and occasional evenings and weekends.
