Overview
Our client seeks a
Senior Server Administrator
to join its dynamic IT Department. This full‑time, in‑person role supports the school’s two on‑site data centers, 250 servers, and a wide variety of scholastic and business applications. Key Responsibilities
Manage and support the School's Office 365 business suite Utilize server management tools to monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance and availability Upgrade and support the existing server infrastructure to ensure availability, reliability, security, and efficiency Support the Privileged Access Management system to allow contractor access to secure systems and manage privileged and service accounts Diagnose and resolve all server‑related hardware and software issues Assist in the design and implementation of server and client‑based security practices (e.g., Windows Group Policy) Maintain servers and applications by applying approved operating system and application updates Maintain functional backup of all systems and ensure redundant systems are designed and tested accordingly Assist with developing, maintaining, and testing the school's disaster recovery systems and procedures Interface with the Client Support and Application Systems teams to deliver server and cloud‑based solutions Perform routine audits of account and file access to ensure proper security and data protection Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of all servers, storage, and systems Mentor and provide guidance to other IT team members around server administration tasks Participate in a rotating after‑hours support schedule Assist with evaluating, designing, and implementing new systems, including physical and virtual servers, storage solutions, backup systems, and server/cloud hosted applications Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience 3+ years implementing and supporting server systems (hardware, software, storage, backup, account/file share administration) Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment Extensive knowledge of building and supporting server infrastructure Strong expertise in administering Microsoft Active Directory and Azure environments, including account and file management, printing, and group policy Knowledge of data replication and redundant parallel systems, storage, and host systems Experience with backup systems (hardware and software) and tiered storage Experience in planning and implementing server‑related hardware, software, and systems projects, including project management skills Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues Excellent organizational and prioritization skills for managing tasks and projects Ability to balance daily operational responsibilities with project work Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clear documentation Ability to learn new technologies quickly Strong interpersonal skills and ability to form successful business relationships Experience with Windows server operating systems, virtualization software (e.g., VMWare, Hyper‑V), backup software (e.g., Veeam, Commvault), and standard server applications (e.g., Microsoft Exchange, Azure, SharePoint, SCCM) Experience with JAMF and MECM is a plus Certifications such as Microsoft MCSE, CompTIA Server+, or other server‑specific credentials are a plus High integrity and professionalism, as all staff are role models for students Interest in actively engaging with students Equal Opportunity Employer
