Position Overview The

Maintenance Specialist

ensures proper maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Assists in developing consumer’s ability to maintain individual residents on basic cleaning and safety.

Compensation USD $17.10/hr (minimum and maximum).

SCOPE OF ROLE

Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas within the facility, including floor care, bathrooms, trash, recyclables, windows, walls, stairways.

Carry out minor repairs and building maintenance throughout assigned areas.

Responsible for exterior snow and ice removal and upkeep of the grounds, sidewalk maintenance, landscaping.

Assist staff with special events by setting chairs and tables and ensuring the area is clean and safe.

Maintain building maintenance tools and machinery to ensure all items are in good working condition.

If no superintendent, order cleaning supplies, paper supplies, lightbulbs, garbage bags, and maintain biweekly inventory.

Assist in moving and storing program supplies, office furniture, office equipment, dorm furniture, consumer belongings, and other items in and around the facility when and where appropriate.

Comply with all SUS Employee Policies, Procedures, and Protocols.

Willing to assist when EMERGENCIES arise in the Facility.

Must wear SUS maintenance uniform and maintain uniform so that it is clean and presentable at the start of each shift.

Complete other tasks assigned by Director or Superintendent.

Attend staff meetings, group supervision, and trainings as needed.

Assist with apartment turnover following move outs to prepare apartments for new families, including plastering, sanding walls, painting; transporting resident and property to new unit.

Assist Super with the maintenance of the building.

Qualifications Required Education and Experience

At least one year of maintenance & cleaning experience in a large residential or Program setting.

Must possess good interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred.

Beneficial for candidate to have experience working within a Supportive Housing setting.
