ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN - 20113
Hours: Full-Time 35 Hours

Overview The Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure is currently seeking a CADD Designer to join our Construction Management Unit – Construction Support - AS-BUILTS Team.
Responsibilities Under the guidance of an Engineer-in-Charge, the successful candidate will prepare as-built drawings and working drawings, utilizing specifications and final estimates for roadway, sewer, and water main projects. The selected candidate may need to participate in field surveys, engage in engineering investigations and studies, attend meetings, and prepare calculations and reports.
Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. The NYC Department of Design and Construction does not sponsor international employees for visa applications, extensions, or status changes, including STEM/OPT visas. Applicants must ensure they meet all qualifying requirements at the time of application.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and two years of full-time satisfactory experience as an engineering technician; or
An Associate degree from an accredited college or technical institution with a specialization in engineering technology; or
A combination of education and experience equivalent to two years of satisfactory experience.
Special Note
One year of experience credit will be given for each 30 semester credits for college education leading to a degree from an accredited college in engineering technology. All candidates must have at least a high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
License Requirement for Certain Positions
The candidate must possess, at the time of appointment or assignment, a valid Motor Vehicle Driver License in the State of New York and maintain it during employment.
Additional Qualification Requirements
At least one year of satisfactory service as an Engineering Technician with the City of New York; or
A Baccalaureate degree in engineering technology from an accredited college; or
After meeting the minimum requirements for Assignment Levels I and II, at least two additional years of full-time satisfactory experience performing engineering technician work; or
A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to the above.
Preferred Skills
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (roadway, sewer, and/or water main)
Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards
Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices
Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred)
Valid driver's license (required)
Personal vehicle (preferred)
