Responsibilities

Supervisory duties including hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing work, approving leave, and disciplinary action as appropriate. This position reports to the Public Health Nutrition Program Director of the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County.

Plan and supervise WIC and Nutrition Services at the main clinic and a satellite clinic, in accordance with Department of Health Manual (DHM) 150-24.

Routinely monitor and evaluate the performance of employees through records/audits, daily observations, and monthly conferences; provide annual performance evaluations and three-yearly position descriptions for direct reports.

Participate in Quality Assurance Monitoring as assigned by the Nutrition Program Director and the State WIC Office.

Provide nutrition services to WIC clients per DHM 150-24, Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for WIC, and agency policies; certify/recertify women, infants and children to participate in the WIC program.

Perform related work as required; attend professional meetings, conferences and workshops; maintain licensure and required CEUs; complete supervisory training within 6 months from date of hire.

Act as designated Information Custodian for WIC Records – Ringling Clinic data sets.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in dietetics, clinical nutrition, nutritional science, community nutrition, food and nutrition, or public health nutrition

Licensed Dietitian as outlined in Chapter 468, Part X, Florida Statutes, or be eligible to practice dietetics in accordance with Chapter 64B8-40 to 45, Florida Administrative Code

Work experience providing nutrition education

Preferred

Experience providing breastfeeding education and support
