Maintenance Worker

to answer the call; a team player who is dedicated to supporting our local Naval community and operational successes on a day-to-day basis. Your work will make an impact and support how our organization serves the best customer – our Military patrons and their families.

So, what might a typical day look like?

Plumbing: Make basic plumbing repairs (sinks, faucets, etc.)

Washer/Dryer repair: routine maintenance, cleaning lint ducts, etc.

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC): Repair, locate defects, plan work, use tools.

Electrical: Recognize and repair electrical problems; replace ballasts, bulbs, wires, switches, etc.

Carpentry: Measure, cut, construct or repair wood/substitute items; build screens, window frames, etc.

Painting: Prepare surfaces, apply coats, ensure finish meets requirements.

Maintain work order log, follow up, report status, log trouble calls with contractor.

Perform a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks involving facility operation and maintenance.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

One year of experience in general maintenance practices (buildings, fixtures, equipment).

One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience; up to high school diploma or GED for one year of experience.

Three years of general maintenance work involving electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and painting.

Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, tools, mechanical and electrical equipment, chemicals and basic safe work practices.

Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and carrying material up to 50 pounds; physically fit to perform moderate strenuous labor and maintain required temperatures.

Preferred: Professional certification or license in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry or painting trade.

Valid state driver license may be required for occasional travel.
