The Role The
Director of Construction Management
provides strategic and hands‑on leadership for all capital construction and renovation projects across the housing and corporate portfolio. This includes
affordable and market‑rate housing, mixed‑use facilities, and corporate office spaces .
You’ll lead complex projects from concept through completion—ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met—while partnering closely with internal stakeholders.
This role is a key leadership position, serving on the
Senior Leadership Team
and the
enterprise‑wide Expanded Executive Leadership Team and Leadership Council .
What You’ll Do
Lead and oversee all capital construction and renovation projects
Manage general contractors, architects, civil engineers, consultants, and internal project teams
Direct and support a team of Project Coordinators and external partners
Ensure projects are delivered
on time, on budget, and to specification
Oversee design development, construction execution, and close‑out processes
Apply strong data analysis and project controls to manage cost, scope, and risk
Collaborate cross‑functionally with housing, operations, and corporate teams
Navigate complex projects with sound judgment, flexibility, and strategic decision‑making
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience leading construction and renovation projects across multiple sites
Strong background managing general contractors, architects, engineers, and vendors
Exceptional project management, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous or fast‑changing environments
Calm, solutions‑oriented leadership under pressure
Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
Proficiency in
MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Experience with
Procore, AutoCAD, and/or property management software
is a plus
Qualifications
High school diploma required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
Minimum of 5 years
of construction or project management experience
Ability to travel throughout the Greater Chesapeake Area
