Monday-Thursday, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Day); On-call rotation typically 2 days/week including some weekends (call rotation example: Friday 6:30 AM - Monday 6:30 AM). Rotating (Day with On-call)

Candidate Pay Rate:

$67 per hour

Perform thorough pre-anesthesia assessments and prepare patients safely for procedures

Provide expert Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia (PACU) care and monitoring

Manage pain assessment and treatment to keep patients comfortable and stable

Complete accurate, timely documentation in Epic and follow EPIC hardstop processes

Carry out medication reconciliation and administer pre/post-operative medications

Obtain operative/procedural consent and provide clear pre-op education to patients

Recognize and respond to acute events, including following malignant hyperthermia protocol

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team including respiratory therapy and rapid response

Support a blended pre-op/PACU environment by using clinical judgment for patient placement and staffing needs

Participate in on-call coverage and float between units as needed

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) credential — ability to obtain Oregon licensure if not already licensed

Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with PACU or pre/post-op experience preferred

Epic charting experience required

BLS required; ACLS and PALS strongly preferred

Comfortable working in a blended pre-anesthesia/PACU environment and floating between units

Ability to participate in on-call rotation (typically 2 days/week plus some weekends)

Familiarity with ASPAN standards and patient acuity-based staffing practices is a plus

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

Pre-anesthesia assessments and pre-op medications

Phase I and Phase II PACU care including monitoring and recovery

Pain assessment and management strategies

Interpretation and communication of lab values

Isolation precautions and infection control

Malignant hyperthermia recognition and protocol response

Epic electronic charting and EPIC hardstop workflows

Patient and family education for pre/post-operative care and discharge instructions

Ability to manage diverse patient ages (pediatrics through geriatrics) and a variety of cases
