Registered Nurse - PACU/Pre-Anesthesia

Monday-Thursday, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Day, 4x10). On-call rotation: typically 2 days/week plus some weekends; weekday on-call usually starts between 3:30 PM and 6:00 PM and ends at 6:00 AM, with a weekend call rotation that covers Friday 6:30 AM - Monday 6:30 AM (rotating coverage)

Provide expert pre-anesthesia assessments and pre-op medication management to ensure safe, efficient surgical flow
Deliver compassionate post-anesthesia care: monitor recovery, manage pain, and intervene promptly for complications
Perform medication reconciliation and follow established Malignant Hyperthermia protocols when needed
Obtain operative and procedural consents and complete comprehensive pre/post operative documentation in Epic
Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and necessary follow-up care to support recovery
Coordinate with OR teams, respiratory therapy, and rapid response for seamless patient transitions
Support Phase I and Phase II recovery workflows and make patient-centered decisions in a blended pre-op/PACU environment
Contribute to unit safety and quality initiatives by interpreting labs, applying isolation precautions, and escalating concerns
Qualifications
Current RN license in Oregon or eligible for Oregon licensure (pending licensure considered)
Minimum of 2 years of RN experience (PACU, pre-anesthesia, ambulatory or perioperative experience preferred)
Epic charting experience required
BLS and ACLS required or strongly preferred; PALS preferred
Comfortable managing diverse patient populations (pediatrics through geriatrics) and a blended pre-op/PACU census
Ability to work on-call rotation (typically 2 days/week plus some weekends) and float between units as needed
Knowledge & Skills
Solid knowledge of pre-op assessment and post-anesthesia care best practices
Skillful in pain assessment and multimodal pain management
Familiarity with Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol and emergent perioperative interventions
Proficiency with medication reconciliation and obtaining operative/procedural consent
Experience with Phase I PACU, Phase II recovery, and ambulatory/outpatient perioperative workflows
Strong communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary coordination
Comfort using Epic, including hard-stop workflows
