Safety Coordinator Job Responsibilities

This role will report to Dondlinger’s Safety Director, working primarily on large-scope projects, monitoring both self-performed and sub-contracted work.

Lead pre‑construction safety planning and risk assessments alongside project team.

Assist project team leadership in developing, implementing and monitoring a Project Specific Safety Plan.

Assist project team leadership with jobsite safety inspections, audits and on‑site safety support.

Serve as a subject matter expert in safety, answering questions and providing guidance as needed.

Conduct on‑site safety meetings; must be able to lead these conversation effectively to large and small groups alike.

Work closely with field leadership to monitor safety practices on fast‑paced multi‑scope projects.

Lead incident response and investigation process, including injury case management, root cause analysis, corrective action development and ensuring compliance with OSHA record‑keeping and company policies.

Develop and deliver regular safety training programs for employees on rigging, fall protection, excavation/trenching, confined spaces and other construction processes.

Provide guidance for mitigating silica exposure and provide regular respiratory fit tests.

Educate employees on safe work practices in extreme weather conditions, including hot, cold and wet environments.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of OSHA regulations, industry best practices and emerging safety trends.

Collect and review safety policies of subcontractors working on projects.

Promote Dondlinger safety policies throughout all levels of the organization.

Other miscellaneous duties as directed.

Required Qualifications

3‑5 years experience in construction safety management.

Familiarity with relevant laws, OSHA guidelines and industry standards is required.

Must have outstanding communication skills with the ability to lead on‑site safety meetings and create strong relationships with employees.

Must be highly organized and able to deliver effective safety training.

Must be able to mentor and teach safety practices through all levels of the organization.

Ability to travel to various jobsites throughout Kansas, must have a valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Preferred Qualifications

General knowledge of MUTCD is preferred.

Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.

Experience in Civil/Heavy Highway Construction is highly preferred.

Certified Red Cross CPR, first aid, AED instructor is a plus. If not certified, must be willing to obtain.
