Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; or equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
Job Description We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist with a minimum of 1 year of experience to join our healthcare research team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality blood collection, ensuring patient comfort, maintaining specimen integrity, and supporting efficient laboratory operations. This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to patient care and safety.
Essential Duties
Obtains blood specimens from patients by venipuncture or finger stick.
Collects urine specimens and ensures chain-of-custody for urine collection.
Greets participants and provides an overview of the specimen collection method.
Labels specimens for identification and enters specimen data into documentation forms or computer.
Prepares specimens for reference laboratory by using a centrifuge to spin blood.
Inventories and requisitions medical laboratory supplies; stocks work area as needed.
Keeps work areas clean and orderly; assists with imaging procedures and exercise testing as needed.
Desired Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a clinical, hospital, or laboratory setting or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT I or equivalent) preferred or required based on state regulations.
Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques, IV placement, specimen handling, and safety protocols.
Working Environment
Activities performed in a potentially hazardous atmosphere with exposure to blood borne pathogens.
Required to stand for extended periods and walk moderate distances to perform work.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities.
Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential functions.
