Summary Description:

BB&N is seeking Summer Camp Activities Counselors for Summer Camp 2026. The Activities Summer Camp Counselor is responsible for creating, planning, and leading a variety of fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities for campers throughout the summer. The counselor will work closely with other group counselors to ensure a positive, safe, and exciting camp experience for all participants. Responsibilities include leading games, arts and crafts, sports, team‑building exercises, and other recreational activities. The Activities Counselor will foster teamwork, encourage participation, and ensure that each camper’s needs are met, all while providing a supportive and inclusive environment. We work hard, have fun, and are positive role models for our campers. Candidates must be dedicated, responsible, and eager to make every day fun at camp.

Our Activities Counselors provide our campers with the opportunity to experience and learn things they may not have before. Activities at Summer@BB&N consist of the following:

Art Lead art activities with group and individual supervision to encourage creative expression in various mediums.

Kiddie Art Provide students with creative entertainment that encourages young artists with prompt‑based art activities.

Sports Organize activities that build towards the fundamentals of team sports.

Kiddie Sports Plan simple sports activities that encourage positive sportsmanship and skill development.

Community Building Facilitate group activities that encourage community connection.

Team Building Organize group games that develop confidence and trust within group settings.

Movement Creating a space for campers to learn numerous ways to move their bodies.

Music Instruct instrument making through sound exploration and skill building.

Nature Connection Explore the outdoor environment to develop connections with natural elements through science and art.

Kiddie Hands‑On Fun Plan kid‑friendly activities with clear instructions and positive enthusiasm. This role encourages young campers to explore their 5 senses with games and activities.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Camp Counselors are expected to be committed to the following:

Participate in developing and implementing high‑quality educational and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for campers within BB&N’s mission.

Supervise campers to ensure their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and overall well‑being.

Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff. Ensuring the site’s cleanliness and adhering to all safety guidelines associated with the camp program.

Positively representing the camp when interacting with parents or community members. Be a role model to campers and staff in attitude and behavior.

Assist in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, dietary restrictions/allergies, and daily attendance.

Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.

Provide supervision for campers while campers are transported to and from camp or during scheduled field trips off camp property.

Contribute to verbal and written evaluations and communication as requested.

Instruct campers in daily routines and cleanup tasks.

Work one‑on‑one with campers.

Instruct and organize camper projects (arts and crafts, dramatics, etc.).

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements, Skills, and Competencies:

The ideal candidate should have some experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.

In addition, the candidate:

Must be 18 years of age

Must be available for training sessions on the nights of June 15th, 16th, and 17th.

Education and First AID and CPR certification, preferred.

Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.

Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior‑management techniques.

Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.

Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.

Some physical requirements of a general Counselor position could be endurance, including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching; requires eye–hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities; requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs.
