Responsibilities
Teach a full range of Sustainable Outdoor Recreation Leadership courses, including day, evening, weekend, large‑class, and distance learning formats.
Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the department.
Maintain subject‑matter currency and develop/revise curriculum.
Use computer and multimedia technology in instruction.
Engage collegially in departmental, college, district, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related professional experience.
OR Associate degree and 6 years related professional experience.
OR possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Forestry and Natural Resources; or equivalent.
Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of community college students.
Degrees and credits from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406); foreign degrees evaluated by an approved service.
Knowledge & Abilities
Ability to work effectively with colleagues and promote innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.
Ability to work with students across a wide range of skills, motivations, and goals.
Ability to develop curriculum, including multiple modalities.
Ability to participate in recruitment and articulation activities with schools, colleges, universities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Maintain subject‑matter currency.
Assess student learning outcomes.
Knowledge of computer technology and willingness to explore new technologies.
Commitment to the California community college mission.
