Leading tier I automotive supplier is seeking a Controls Engineer to oversee controls in an assigned area of the plant. Daily you will be responsible for troubleshooting, capital equipment projects and continuous improvementinitiatives. Responsibilities will include:
Troubleshoot and upgrade equipment related to electrical issues
Make PLC program improvements to reduce downtime and increase cycle times
Support CapEx projects from an electrical standpoint, including adhering to timelines
Program and troubleshoot PLCs
Complete electrical troubleshooting, including vision systems, drives, servos, HMIs, etc.
Troubleshoot and optimize robotic systems, including end of arm tooling
Complete cost justifications on potential projects
Manage multiple projects at a time
Upgrade PLC platforms on equipment
Complete electrical troubleshooting related to wiring, vision systems, cameras, HMIs, etc.
Support other areas of the plant and other engineers
Additional engineering tasks as assigned
This is a hands‑on position that requires qualified candidates to be on the manufacturing floor up to 80% of their day troubleshooting electrical issues and programming PLCs. You will be on the manufacturing floor daily communicating with the production staff and working with your team to continuously improve operations and meet production goals. This site offers the opportunity to work with cutting edge equipment and robotics. Candidates should enjoy working in a team environment, learning new processes and technologies, communicating with hourly staff to enhance production and being creative in the continuous improvement process. Our client wants a strong problem solver and a PLC expert!

Requirements for the Controls Engineer
1. Minimum of an Associate’s degree with at least threes years of controls engineering experience OR a Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of controls engineering experience
2. Experience working in complex, fast‑paced manufacturing environments
3. Experience troubleshooting and programming PLCs
4. Experience implementing process improvements (reducing scrap, increasing efficiencies, etc.)
5. Experience managing project timelines and ideally budgets
6. Microsoft Office
Skills preferred but NOT required
1. Automotive supplier work experience
2. Robotics experience
3. CapEx project management
4. Formal problem‑solving
5. Mechanical hobbies and/or farming experience
