Position Summary / Objective We are looking for candidates to fill a Quality Assurance Inspector position at our Wallops Island, Virginia station. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) at Wallops Island requires support in management, engineering, operations, and technical expertise for the activation, operation, maintenance, and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs. This support is crucial for all Naval Sea Systems Command and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems missions and projects conducted at SCSC. SCSC offers live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net‑centric maritime environment, aimed at developing, testing, evaluating, and conducting fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Essential Functions

This inspector implements quality control and safety plans to ensure compliance with contract specifications and applicable regulations.

Will perform Quality Assurance Inspections and other quality-related tasks.

Assist Program Managers, Project Managers, and Supervisors with NAVSEA Standard Item and other customer‑related requirements to ensure work is conducted accurately and safely.

Monitor compliance with company and program Quality and Safety Management Systems, Workmanship standards and Customer requirements.

Assist with the development of Test & Inspection Plans, Process Control Procedures, and Condition Reports as required.

Maintain the Measuring and Monitoring Equipment (MME) Database including inspections, logging, and check‑in/check‑out of MME equipment.

Conduct audits, observe processes, and evaluate procedural compliance.

Communicate deficiencies to proper persons, maintain Quality Control files, and document results of all inspections.

Required Education and Experience

A certification as an American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Inspection (CQI) or equivalent certification.

Six (6) or more years of experience performing quality assurance inspections and administering quality control programs, with at least two (2) or more years in a supervisory role.

Experience inspecting complex components and systems utilizing and interpreting blueprints or engineering drawings, planning and conducting audits, observing processes and evaluating procedural compliance.

Must have the ability to analyze production data to identify a recurring defect, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend changes to the production process to eliminate the issue.

Additional Eligibility Requirements Able to maintain an active DoD Secret security clearance.

Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, mobile devices and photocopiers.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Excellent listening skills are essential. The employee must have the ability to frequently traverse stairs. The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. Attendance at pre‑scheduled mandatory meetings is required. Must be available during the core work hours as determined by your contract/location and must account for the required number of hours in a pay period to maintain full‑time status.

Telework

Telework may be allowed up to 20%.

Travel

This position includes a low level of travel – up to 10% may be required.

Ability to travel CONUS; potential to travel OCONUS.
