Project Read AmeriCorps VISTA

AmeriCorps VISTA is a national program where community members have the opportunity to serve in local nonprofits for one year helping eliminate poverty. In return for service, members receive a living allowance, health insurance, and other benefits.
An AmeriCorps VISTA position is open in Provo to help expand and develop the Project Read adult literacy program by helping with public outreach programs, recruiting volunteers and students, and streamlining office tasks for maximum efficiency.
Compensation
Monthly Living Allowance of $1,914.92 per month
Rental Assistance of $200 per month
At the end of service, VISTA members can choose an Education Award of $6,895 (toward tuition or student loans) or an End-of-Service Stipend of $1,800 cash

Federal Student Loan Forbearance for qualified loans
10 personal days off and 10 sick days

Requirements
Full-time service for one year without another job
Cannot be a full-time student (since it is full-time work, this is too difficult)
Some college experience
At least 18 years of age
General office and computer skills
