Position Summary
CT (computed tomography) technologists are radiologic technicians who specialize in taking cross‑sectional x‑ray images of the tissues, bones, organs and blood vessels in an area of a patient's body.
Responsibilities
Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns
Produces computerized tomography scanner radiographs of specific areas as required by the departmental procedures
Performs a variety of tasks
Works under general supervision
Requires a certain degree of creativity and latitude
Typically reports to a supervisor or manager
Performs other related duties as assigned
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
Completion of an AMA approved School of Radiology Technology; Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy
ARRT certification in Radiography and/or Radiation Therapy, and/or Certification in Nuclear Medicine through the NMTCB required
CT certification within one year of employment required
BLS required
Working Conditions
Must be able to lift and move up to 35 lbs
Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
Typical equipment used in a clinical job
Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
